Membership

The main goal of the International Cognitive Linguistics Association is to disseminate its research findings among its members. Therefore the most important benefit to a membership is the journal of the ICLA, Cognitive Linguistics, which comes with the membership. The journal publisher, Mouton de Gruyter, collects the membership fees and remits ICLA's portion to the organization.

Member pricing

As of Volume 24 (2013), the membership subscription to Cognitive Linguistics will be offered to the members as follows:

  • Regular membership with print subscription: € 72 / US$ 108 plus shipping and handling*
  • Regular membership with online subscription: € 72 / US$ 108 (including back issues of the previous 13 years)
  • Student membership** with print subscription: € 42 /US$ 63 plus shipping and handling*
  • Student membership** with print subscription: € 42 /US$ 63 including back issues of the previous 13 years*

The prices for the last volume, Volume 23 (2012) are these:

  • Regular membership print only: € 72 / US$ 108 plus postage*
  • Regular membership online only: € 90 / US$ 153 (including back issues of the past 13 years)
  • Student membership** print only: € 42/ US$ 63 plus postage*

Please note: Members who would like to change their regular membership subscription from print only to online only are asked to send an email to Rhenus Medien Logistik GmbH & Co. KG (degruyter@de.rhenus.com ).

*Membership prices for the print issues do not inlcude postage costs, which may change from time to time. . See postage costs under Cognitive Linguistics for the current shipping costs and options.

Membership benefits

The following membership benefits are available for ICLA members in good standing:

  • The journal Cognitive Linguistics (comes with membership).
  • The Cognitive Linguistics Bibliography, free online with ICLA membership/subscription to Cognitive Linguistics
  • A substantial reduction in the participation fee for ICLA members at ICLC Conferences
  • Special offers for discounted cognitive linguistics titles published by Mouton de Gruyter (see Cognitive Linguistics Research and click on the link to the .pdf download "Special Discount for ICLA Members")
  • Members should note also that there is now a 30% discount on books published by John Benjamins. Indicate that you are a member of ICLA when ordering.

To become an ICLA member

Use the membership registration form to sign up as a member of the ICLA.

Your membership will begin with all issues in the year you sign up, i.e. joining in calendar year 2012 means that you will receive all the numbers published in 2012, for the 2012 price.

If you join the ICLA after the first issues of the new year have been published and wish a later start date for your journal, please indicate that on the printed form before faxing or mailing it.

Retroactive subscriptions to previous years' issues can also be handled, as well as sales of individual numbers; please contact the Secretary/Treasurer Ad Foolen at a.foolen AT let.ru.nl to inquire.

In subsequent years, your membership will be continued automatically, unless you inform the Secretary/Treasurer (address above) in writing that you wish to resign your membership.

Institutional subscriptions

The institutional price for the journal for 2011 (no change from 2010) is: is €482/$723. The institutional price includes online access for no additional charge. (Print-only or online-only subscriptions are available for €419/$629).
