ICLA Policies and proceduresICLA policies and procedures describes the various organizational policies and procedures for carrying out business that have been adopted by the ICLA Governing Board. Updating membership list
In March 2008 the Secretary/Treasurer put out a call for help in
updating the list of ICLA member addresses. There are still some
members who have not checked in and reported their email address.
Are you on this list? Voting system for ICLA business meetingsIn the Business meeting at ICLC 7, Krakow, July 2007, the Secretary/Treasurer adopted the Single-Transferable Vote system for counting votes in the ICLA election, as suggested by Board member David Tuggy. For the benefit of members unfamiliar with this system, this voting procedure, commonly used in parliamentary systems, was described in a text The Single Transferable Vote system written up by David Tuggy and Suzanne Kemmer. The Secretary/Treasurer has discretion regarding the voting system to be used, but this one was found to be practical for large meetings as it allows votes to be counted quickly and fairly, without numerous run-off rounds. Guidelines for ICLC organizers: Proposing a conference and running itTwo sets of guidelines have been adopted by the ICLA Board regarding the ICLC conference. Prospective hosts for the ICLC must present a proposal to the Board; guidelines for writing it are given in Proposals for hosting the ICLC: Guidelines and procedures. Guidelines for planning and running the conference are laid out clearly in Guidelines for organizing an ICLC, with basic timeline. These organizational guidelines should be consulted by those thinking of proposing a conference as well as all members of the organizing committee of the conference. Consult these guidelines frequently if you want to run a successful conference. ICLA Governing Board and non-Board rolesThe document Definitions and responsibilities of ICLA Governing Board and non-Board roles lays out what the various positions in the ICLA entail. All Board members and prospective Board members should familiarize themselves with these descriptions in order to understand what they are expected to do as Board members. ICLA meeting reportsThe set of Board meeting and Business meeting reports that have been written up by the Secretary/Treasurer and approved by the Board are contained in ICLA Governing Board and business meeting reports. Final conference reportsEach conference organizer is expected to write up a final report on the conference to be presented to the Governing Board and made public on this site. Those received to date are in ICLC final conference reports.
