History and AimsLaura Janda and Stephen Dickey founded the Slavic Cognitive Linguistics Association (SCLA) in Spring 2000 and the inaugural conference for the group was held at UNC-Chapel Hill in Autumn 2000. The organization has continued annual meetings in most years since then. (See Conferences link below.) The Slavic Cognitive Linguistics Association pursues a threefold mission:
